Bellum Playtest Access and Setup

Quick Answer

To join a Bellum playtest, you need an eligible game edition, the official custom launcher, the correct updated build, and an open testing session.

To join a Bellum playtest, you need an eligible game edition, the official custom launcher, the correct updated build, and an open testing session. As of November 2, 2026, Deluxe and Supporter list Closed Weekly Beta access. Standard accounts, including existing pre-orders and new purchases, are scheduled to gain Wednesday–Sunday testing access on December 3, 2026.

A purchase does not make every day a test day. Bellum's 24/7 launch is targeted for Q1 2027, so check the current session calendar before arranging a first match. A launcher that opens successfully, a key that activates, and an account that can enter the current test are different stages of getting ready. Work through them in that order instead of treating every connection problem as an installation failure.

Check your edition before preparing a session

Your edition determines whether the test you are trying to join is part of your access. The three current editions share the same game identity, but their access descriptions have not always been the same. That is why a friend's successful login does not prove your own account should already be eligible.

The Standard announcement is the important change for people who previously bought the base edition and have been waiting. It provides a planned route into weekly tests before the 24/7 launch. It does not say Standard receives immediate access before December 3, and it does not require treating old statements that Standard must wait for Early Access as the current plan.

Supporter's older Closed Alpha wording describes an earlier access phase. It should not be read as a separate alpha server that necessarily remains available today. For an upcoming session, use the current testing announcement and the edition's current access label.

Before purchasing another edition to solve an access problem, check the name on your existing confirmation. If the account already has the appropriate entitlement, buying again does not address an out-of-date build or a session that has not opened.

Use the current session calendar

The announced Standard pattern from December 3 is Wednesday through Sunday. That gives you the intended testing days, but you still need the individual session's times. Opening hours, closing hours, regions, and special instructions cannot be recovered from the day range alone.

The official Bellum community calendar and current announcements are the places to check before the session. Earlier beta guides describe April sessions, later weekly expansions, and July opening times. Those details belong to their own periods; do not copy an old video's Thursday start or US time into a new event without checking the latest announcement.

For a group, write down the specific session you intend to join and its local time for each player. Then check every account separately. A group can have the same launcher installed while containing Standard owners who are still waiting for their milestone and Deluxe owners who already have weekly access.

Plan around the opening rather than the download

Complete the launcher installation and available updates before your group's planned start. This leaves the session for connecting and learning, rather than discovering that one person still needs a large game download. It also gives you a chance to identify an activation problem while the rest of the group is not waiting in a server.

Do not assume a training server, experimental session, or other test is permanently open between regular sessions. Older guides show a training option and discuss extra tests, but those descriptions do not create a current all-week access guarantee. Check what is actually being offered for the period you want to play.

Install and activate through the official launcher

Bellum uses its own website and launcher for launch distribution. You are not looking for a Steam Playtest request button or a Steam library entry to complete this process. The game key supplied with the purchase belongs to Bellum's own access route.

Prepare the installation in a clear sequence:

  1. Locate the official Launcher entry or the launcher download information provided with your purchase.
  2. Download the launcher and keep the purchase confirmation available.
  3. Open the launcher and enter your supplied game key when requested.
  4. Check which game build is selected.
  5. Download any required update for the announced session.
  6. Confirm the session is open before trying to join a server.

The directory field identifies where the launcher will install Bellum.

If the download itself fails, earlier onboarding guidance suggests trying the official link in another browser. That is a download step, rather than an account-access workaround. It cannot open a closed test, replace a missing entitlement, or move Standard's access date forward.

Treat the key as private. Keep it out of public screenshots and discussion posts. If you need help, show the error message and describe which stage failed: obtaining the launcher, activating the purchase, updating a build, or entering a session. These are more useful details than simply reporting that the game does not work.

Check updates before launching into a test

Bellum changes during testing, so a previously working installation may need an update for the next session. Earlier launcher guidance describes an automatic update prompt and a manual check through its settings control. Follow the current interface labels if the layout has changed.

The goal is to have the build the session requires, rather than to preserve an old installation because it worked in a previous week. If friends are joining together, compare the selected build and follow the same current event instructions. A new feature shown in a devlog does not necessarily mean an experimental build is the right one for a regular weekly session.

Keep regular and experimental tests separate

Older beta guidance describes occasional experimental tests alongside the regular weekly sessions. It also shows that using an experimental build involves selecting a different build in the launcher and downloading its update. That is a useful distinction when an event specifically calls for experimental participation.

It is not a promise that an experimental server is always available when regular testing is closed. Nor should an older description of experimental access be assumed to cover every current account. Read the announcement for the particular event, including its access conditions and requested build, before making changes.

If you changed builds for a previous event, revisit the selection before your next regular session. Keep the session name, build instructions, and your installed version aligned. This is a more focused check than repeatedly reinstalling the entire launcher without knowing whether the problem is timing, eligibility, or the selected test build.

When the current announcement does not mention a special branch, do not choose one solely because an old video labels it newer or more interesting. Match the preparation to the event you intend to enter. The useful outcome is reaching the correct test with your group, rather than collecting every available build.

Check the PC requirements before troubleshooting

The published PC requirements specify Windows, DirectX 12, broadband Internet, and 45 GB of available SSD storage. Minimum memory is 16 GB, recommended memory is 32 GB, and the minimum processor requirement explicitly includes AVX2. Recommended storage is an NVMe SSD.

Compare your actual hardware with the full store requirements before attributing a launch failure to the test calendar. A machine missing a required processor feature presents a different problem from an eligible account waiting for servers to open. The launcher cannot turn a nonmatching operating system into a verified supported platform.

The stated requirements also do not guarantee a particular frame rate. The latest roadmap describes continued stability and performance work, including a focus on lower- and mid-spec machines. Prepare for a test of a developing game, and judge any settings change against the actual current build rather than a performance claim from an older video.

If your first session includes an available training server, use that opportunity to adjust settings and familiarize yourself with the interface before joining a live round. Treat that as an option when present, rather than a guaranteed service outside the advertised testing window.

Reach a useful first deployment

After you connect, the server and deployment interfaces become the next practical steps. Earlier onboarding footage shows joining a server, choosing a faction, and selecting a role. Your immediate aim is to get into an appropriate squad with enough understanding to follow its direction, rather than learning every specialist system at once.

Bellum's named factions are the Ranger Regiment, SATYR PMC, and al-Zalaam. Their different roles and equipment matter once you are playing, but you do not need to settle every faction preference before completing the access process. Begin by checking the available server, the team selection, and the squad you intend to join.

A basic rifleman role is a practical first choice if you want to learn without immediately taking responsibility for leadership or a specialist system. This is a preparation recommendation, not a requirement for joining the test. If you choose a specialist role, take time to understand its responsibilities rather than assuming familiar controls from another shooter will transfer unchanged.

Use the roster and loadout areas to identify your squad and role before deployment.

For a group, agree on the session and squad plan before entering. The latest update describes a squad hold feature that lets a leader hold an empty squad for 90 seconds during staging and invite players before the remaining spaces open. That feature helps groups organize, but it does not guarantee that a full server has room for every friend or that separate accounts share an entitlement.

Diagnose access failures in the right order

Use the first failed step to narrow the problem. If you cannot obtain the launcher, focus on the official download route. If the key is rejected, check the purchase details and the exact launcher message. If the game opens but no suitable session is available, compare your edition, the current event calendar, and the selected build.

For Standard owners before December 3, an unavailable weekly test can match the announced access plan. For an eligible edition during a closed period, waiting for the announced session is more relevant than reinstalling. For an open event requiring a new build, update before trying the server again.

When you report a remaining issue, include your edition, the intended session, the selected build, and the visible error. Hide your game key and personal purchase details. After a successful connection, keep the first session focused on learning the current interface and your squad's expectations; a test is also an opportunity to notice a specific problem clearly enough to describe it later.
